I lived in Yishun for almost 10 years of my life so I was very used to eating all sorts of food in and around Yishun.
After I started trying out food around other areas in Singapore, I realised that I had gotten so used to this distinctive taste of laksa from a eatery in Yishun that no other spot could match up to it!
This laksa store has been in business for a really long time and the price has grown from $2.20 to $2.80. This rise in price of $0.60 is very reasonable for the consistency in taste that has not changed one bit. The serving size looks like what I had 10 years ago and the taste of this dish is exactly the same as when I first had it as a kid.
For $2.80, you get a bowl of noodles with cockles or crabsticks (depending on which you prefer), some fishcake slices, some tau pok and the delectable, creamy, fragrant, and super tasty gravy. They also make this chilli condiment which you can help yourselves to on the side. The chilli compliments the gravy very well and always tastes really fresh.
I am glad they have not changed one bit in terms of taste and quality after so many years. Actually, even the boss who still serves his customers looks the same! Maybe laksa is the secret to eternal beauty and life? Just maybe.
