We ordered the sesame chicken, sesame chicken with chilli, herbal chicken, brinjal with minced meat, sambal kangkong, sambal sotong, french beans with tofu, home-made ngoh hiang and also tried the home-made chrysanthemum tea and luo han guo drink.
The food was definitely delicious and there was a good variety, but you can feel that the base sauces are very similar and they kind of tasted the same.
The sambal dishes were sweet instead of spicy and the sesame chicken was better off without the chilli because the chilli made little to no difference.
The kang kong was nice but it could do with a little more spice. The french beans were crunchy and cooked al dente but only had a very mild flavour to it.
My family loved the herbal chicken soup thoroughly as it wasn’t overpowering but still full of flavour.
I especially loved the home-made ngoh hiang because it was literally all minced meat with some bits of chestnuts and fried to perfection.
What I would recommend you to avoid would be the home-made drinks. They are extremely bitter and really strong in taste, so if you are a fan of really bitter drinks, this is for you.
Overall, I think the food was great but you have to be picky of your choices. If I were to visit this place again, I would stick to the sesame chicken, ngoh hiang, kang kong and I’ll be utterly satisfied.
