Walking into Merci Marcel makes you feel like you’re on a sunny island away from home. The decor is bright yet elegant and super chill. It really hit the spot.
So we heard that the coffee served here is from the famous Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee, and certainly didn’t disappoint. The cappucino had a nice depth to it and the foam was fluffy.
It was brunch service so we went with their Marinated Crab Tartine cause ma mon cheri was craving avocado and a taste of the sea while I opted for the Smoked Salmon Burger. Being the carnivore that I am, I was a little disappointed that they did not have any meat options in their brunch menu. Dessert is always a must for us so we ordered their French Toast because we love our carbs very much.
When the food arrived, it was certainly a feast for our eyes. The colours from the green and purple salad paired well with the brown and white breads. We immediately tucked into our meals. The avocado was fresh and the bread was chewy. The crab and salmon were a nice touch. However, brunch food will be brunch food and we felt there wasn’t anything too special or outstanding about the flavors.
The French Toast came in a sinful brioche topped with berries, sweet honey and toasted almonds. It was the prettiest of the dishes with the lovely shiny red berries nestled in some warm brown honey. It was a delightful way to end the meal.
Overall, definitely a great place to chill and have coffee but was disappointed with the food options at that time. Hopefully they do have better options for dinner. On a side note, I think this place looks great for small scale parties because of the classy decor and the chill vibes.
